Možda nije baš materijal za ovu dretvu ali će možda nekoga zanimati ....
Sa prepiske na forumu Air Britaina ovih dana:
A member of Air Britain who is not on AB-IX has the following questions:
a) On 11/4/41 an SM 79 of the Yugoslavian A/F forced landed at Gruda airfield near Dubrovnik. Before it could be repaired it was captured by the Italian A/F. This was reported to British Intelligence in the Middle East by the co-pilot Dusan Miljus (apparently no relation to a contemporary Croatian journalist) on his escape.
Does any member know if the SM 79 enter service with the Italian A/F and if it did has anyone got a serial. Further what happened to Miljus, i.e did he join the RAF?
b) On 2/3/44 an RAF Spitfire of 73 Sqd was lost over Dubrovnik. 2 books have given different serials. A French book gives EN582 whilst Vol 4 of Shores et al Mediterranean Air War gives EN352. Apparently the 73 Sqd ORB at the PRO provides no serial so which one is correct?
Thanks in advance for any help,
David Brown

David,
EN352 was SOC in March 1945 some time after a crash at Perugia following an engine failure on take-off.
EN582 crashed whilst attacking a train near Dubrovnik on 2 March 1944.

Can't help with your first query, but regarding the Spitfire lost near Dubrovnik, the Air-Britain EA-EZ serials book states that EN582, while with 73Sqn, flew into a truck while attacking a train 10 miles W of Grasac, near Dubrovnik.
A complication: I can't trace a Grasac - but I can find Orašac, which is further up the coast in the direction of Split.
Next problem: there's no railway there (at least, not now)!
EN352 is stated to have crashed on 16.12.44 at Perugia when an engine cut on take-off while with 5RFU.

Hi all
Gradac is a town halfway between Dubrovnik and Split. It is also on the rail line between the two. It was a base for Partizans in WW2. Possible answer?
